| Department's History |
| The PGP College of Arts and Science offers Master Degree in Food Processing. The department of Food Processing is one of the vibrant science departments established in the year 2001 to meet the demands of the growing Food Processing Sector. This has an immense scope on processing and preservation of food to fulfil the consumer satisfaction. Our students are encouraged to train themselves at various food industries like dairy, meat, sugar, fruits, vegetables and confectionery. They acquire knowledge during the course of study and the training helps to implement in any area and bring out their views as projects at the end of the course, which would be greatly helpful for them to select their future career in their field of interest. |

| Our students have proved their academic excellence by securing University ranks. Many guest lectures and seminars by experts in the field of Food Processing are arranged to provide knowledge in basic and recent advancement in the field of study. They are motivated to participate and present papers in various National and International conferences, Workshops etc. Our alumni are placed in the various Food Processing industries like Century Flour Mills (P) Ltd., Tuticorin Sea Food Industry, Nestle India Limited, Bangalore, Modern Food Industries (P) Ltd., Arun Ice Creams, Sun feast Biscuits, Chennai etc., which is the highlight of the course. |

Our student Anitha.V have participated and presented paper on “Formulation and quality evaluation of instant Dosa mix powder incorporated with Drumstick, Drumstick leaves and Amchoor” in the 6th International Food Convention held at CFTRI, Mysore |

Our students Satheesh Gopal. R and Krishnan. R have participated and presented paper on “Processing, Quality Evaluation and Storage Stability of Papaya (Carica Papaya) and Green Leafy Vegetable (Amaranth Polygonoides) incorporated Paneer” in the 6th International Food Convention held at CFTRI, Mysore on 15th- 19th December 2008. |

G have participated and presented paper on “Processing, Quality evaluation and Keeping Quality of Bael fruit (Aegle Marmelos) Bar incorporated with Soya bean and Rajmah” in the 6th International Food Convention held at CFTRI, Mysore on 15th- 19th December 2008. |
