The Motto of PGP COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY is “KNOWLEDGE IS POWER” along with a strong emphasis on team work and a higher level of evolving social responsibility. This enables our wards not only to face the challenges in life at present but also inculcate in them individual responsibilities to the society and our nation.
As an effective medium of nurturing instructional communication, Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Main Library of PGP College of Engineering and Technology has set its vision, to the maximum satisfaction of the institution in imparting the highest quality of Technical Education. Our Library is offering the most modern facilities and infrastructure in an aesthetically designed modern library building.
OUR LIBRARY is an USER – FRIENDLY LIBRARY with well designed set up consisting of a comprehensive collection of valuable books, Indian and International Journals, e- resources, Project Reports, Back Issues of Periodicals, Press Clippings and Non-Book Materials to impart the highest quality to the cause of education, especially Technical Education. The Library contributes its efforts in improving the standards of teaching-learning in the campus and it caters to the needs of students and the faculty.
Our Central Library is housed in a spacious area of 4000 sq.ft. The stock as well as issue and return and renewal are all fully computerized with Bar-Coding provision and the transactions all are automated. Our library has got a seating capacity of 120 seats, out of which 60 are air conditioned.

This user-friendly Library is well equipped with good collections of Valuable Engineering Books, books related to Science and Humanities and other interdisciplinary subject books. Total Collection as on date is 19500 Volumes under 6738 Titles, along with 82 National Journals, 12 MBA International Journals and 236 Online International Journals (IEEE & ASME). Our Library has a collection of 824 CD’s under various titles. There are many number of books for the preparation of competitive examinations like GATE, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, SAT, MAT, TANCET, SSC, AIRFORCE and CIVIL SERVICES in both References and Issues sections. E-resources are subscribed through INDEST-AICTE CONSORTIUM and IEEE Journals can also be viewed electronically in the library.
We have a got a system of compulsory Library hour for our students in the regular working hours and the same has been included in the general class timetable of the students. This enables all the students to visit and use library without fail; this enables them to have ample time to utilize the library.
Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is in operation to save the time of the readers which may be wasted on locating the books in case of ordinary library access systems. Lending Service, Reference Service, Service for Career & Placement aids, Current Awareness Service, Industrial Information Service, E-Journals [Full-Text] Access, E-Books Access, DELNET Service, Internet Service, Information Retrieval Internet print out Reprography Service, SDI Services are being made available in the library.
The Digital Library consists of systems with internet facility is kept always open. This provides access for net-surfing and Online Journals browsing with the following Applications and Multimedia Software:
Microsoft Office 2007.
Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Flash Player.
 
 
General Instructions of the Users
Please keep silence.
You are instructed to sign in the register in a proper manner. Please note the in-time and out-time too.
You are advised to handle the papers and books in a good manner.
Please don’t change the place of the books and don’t hide them too.
You are asked to Return or Renew the books at proper dates.
You are instructed to bring ID card and Library Card whenever you are entering the library.
You are instructed to take books by using your library card. Don’t borrow books with others Library Cards.
You should come in formal dress.
Keep your belongings outside the library.
Using Cell Phone inside the library is strictly prohibited.
Students should pay a penalty for loss or damage to the Library books, magazines or Library property.
RULES AND REGULATIONS OF USING LIBRARY RESOURCES:
Library cards should be safely kept. If they are lost, a fine of Rs. 10/- will be collected from the students.
Fine amount of 1.00 rupee is levied from defaulters.
Reference Books, Journals, Magazines and Dailies should not be taken out of the Library.
Faculty can take six books for long term (up to semester)
For students maximum duration each book is 15 days (one renewal is permissible).
You are instructed to bring ID card and Library Card whenever you are entering the library.
You are instructed to take books by using your library card. Don’t borrow books with others Library Cards.
On finding the books not returned even after 15 days, the students have to meet his/her HOD and Principal for further action.
Students should take care of books without causing damage of any sort like folding or underling with pen or pencils.
In case of loss of a book, the students will have to bear the responsibility for replacing the same with a good book or pay three times the printed cost.
Library books must be returned when students go on long vacation.
Magazines and journals after perusal must be kept in their respective places.
Lending of books shall be terminated at any time for contravening the above
